From the Chair
The Brisbane Rotary Art Spectacular has grown to become one of the most prestigious art exhibitions in Queensland. The event in May 2018 will be the 39th Rotary Art Spectacular; it truly is a wonderful exhibition displaying an extensive range of carefully selected pieces of art from a range of talented contemporary and emerging artists.
As well as being a showcase for artists and various art forms, the Art Spectacular is also an opportunity for Rotary to raise funds for charity. During its extended history, the event has generated some $2 million to the benefit of various charities supported by Rotary. The major beneficiary of the 2018 Art Show will be the AEIOU Foundation plus various community projects supported by three Rotary Clubs, Stones Corner, Hamilton and Brisbane High – Rise. It is the members of these three Clubs who work together each year to ensure the success of the Art Show.
The planning of each Art Show is a yearlong process demanding a considerable amount of time, thought, effort and commitment. Many people deserve thanks and none more so than the Committee comprising members of the each of the three Clubs, our very energetic and innovative curator (Brett Lethbridge) and our coordinator from Lethbridge Gallery, Simone Linssen. The committee also includes an AEIOU representative who makes a significant personal and professional contribution.
We are fortunate each year to enjoy the support of a range of exceptional sponsors; they are the key to the fund-raising success of the Art Spectacular and their support is highly valued and much appreciated. We value too the relationships that have developed with our sponsors. They have become our friends.
This will be our third year staging the Art Spectacular in the foyer of Central Plaza One. It is our new home in the heart of Brisbane. We are grateful to the management and owners of CP1 for their continuing generous, helpful and cooperative support.
Please enjoy the 39th presentation of the Brisbane Rotary Art Spectacular.
